trend spotting: peach & coral

For the past few weeks, C & I have been road-tripping all over Connecticut to meet with the best wedding vendors in the state. We’ve put approximately 500 miles on the Prius and met with some increeeeedibly talented people (like, brilliant ya’ll!). We’ve learned so much but above all we’ve made great new friends, and we simply cannot WAIT to work with each and every one of them in the coming months and years as Lovely Day grows. We might even have some collaborations on the blog soon!

With all of the vendors we’ve met, whether they’re caterers, florists, or cake shop owners, we’ve asked their expert POV on current and coming trends in the industry so that we can help keep you on the cusp of fabulousness! Turns out chevron and ombré are “very 2012” but don’t worry, there is a lot of pretty going on right now (and if you really want ombre flowers or chevron linens, we’ve totally got your back)!

One trend we absolutely LOVED was shared by Yumiko Fletcher, owner of Hana Floral Design in Mystic. She told us that coral and blush tones are still very much “in” for this season, and we couldn’t be happier to hear it. There are so many ways you can incorporate these beautiful, classic shades into your day – and the colors themselves ooooze with love. Here are some of our favorite looks:

1. Elie Saab can do no wrong. I mean really. Nothing. Every gown that comes out of that house is so stunning I consider dumping my 401k to buy one and this one is no different! The beading and beautiful blush shade are perfection.

2. We love a pretty 3-tiered wedding cake but there’s something so fresh and fun about this stunner by London-based incrEdibles. The sugar flowers are exquisite but the rafia-like detail at the bottom of each tier adds a lovely rustic feel. We’d take a bite outta that.

3. Color isn’t just for your invites anymore – consider using envelopes in one of your main or accent colors to add a pop to your guests mailboxes. Pair them with gorgeous calligraphy and set a special tone for your big day. {These were captured by one of our favorite CT-photographers, Katie Slater!}

4. These sweet Rachel Leigh blush studs would look lovely with a bridal updo, dontcha think?

5. Oh Amsale, there are no words. We love your chiffon numbers and this one is extra special with the waist ruffle detail and side sash (more pretty here).

6. We adore pretty much everything about this floral arrangement. Yep, every last bit. The mix of soft garden roses, poppies and peonies are perfectly pretty against a burlap table runner.

7. We kinda love the idea of coral toenails under your gown and with a name like “Cute as a button” we kinda love it A LOT.

8. Gorgeous vintage/old world tablescape = coral napkins + gold rimmed china + silver studded chargers and a plate-sized menu.

  1. Love coral and blush colours – I think our Groomsmen will be in a light blue colour so coral would work beautifully, perfect for a beach wedding. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for what the upcoming trends are for over the next year. xx
