CFCTB: venues

Happy first day of Spring! We’re launching a new feature on the Lovely Day blog to celebrate, and I’m delighted to announce the CFCTB (Confessions of a Former Connecticut Bride) series – resourceful posts designed to provide valuable insight into the wonderful world of wedding planning in our coastal state!

Planning can be intimidating and one of the hardest things to determine in the beginning is your budget. Whether you’ve had your wedding planned in your mind for years or are just considering your options, it’s difficult to know how much your dream wedding will cost. Everyone has advice, and there are articles online announcing that the average cost for a U.S. wedding is $27,000. What’s confusing about this number is that it’s a national average, including weddings in more rural states as well as pricey parties in major metropolitan cities across the country. This is not to say that you can’t have a Connecticut wedding for $27,000 (or less!), but you’ll need to focus on your budget, prioritize what’s important to you, and plan early to research creative solutions to cut costs (and Lovely Day can help with all of that!).

When my husband and I started planning we had no idea where to start. We dreamed up a number and decided we would stick to it, but in 6 months our “number” doubled with no easy signs of turning back. We didn’t have an extravagant wedding by any means and we were quite savvy with our decisions and purchases, but there were hidden costs that jumped up and surprised us along the way.

I believe that one of the most valuable things Colleen and I share with our Lovely Day brides is insight. Our #1 goal is to help you be as prepared as possible for every aspect of the planning process – from ordering your gown at the right time to allow for alterations, to understanding realistic budgets for those special must-have elements. We’ve focused on three of the most popular Connecticut wedding locales: barns, mansions, and vineyards.
