runway roundup: bridal market

This past weekend the top bridal designers hit the west side of NYC to showcase their Spring 2014 collections at Bridal Market.  If you were lucky enough to score a seat to one of the many shows (or like us, followed all the happenings on Instagram) you probably noticed some of the very distinct trends that popped up from collection to collection.  Here’s our roundup of 5 trends to have on your radar as you shop for your big day!

Trend 1: Illusion Necklines
Forgo the necklace and embrace a dress with an illusion neckline to give the appearance that jewels and appliqués are delicately resting on your skin.

Trend 2: Boleros
Lovely Day’s very own B was ahead of this trend in her August 2012 wedding and we’re glad to see that the likes of Carolina Herrera & Monique Lhuillier are catching on!

Trend 3: Lace Sleeves
When Kate Middleton donned her lace sleeved gown in 2011 we knew this would soon be a style that American brides would be dying to embrace.  These gowns are all so perfectly elegant, classic and regal.

Trend 4: Short Skirts
Leg-barring looks graced many of the runways from Marchesa to Monique Lhuillier to Reem Acra.  Would you dare to bare some leg on your big day?

Trend 5: Dramatic Backs
‘How low can you go?’ seemed to be on the minds of Rivini and Reem Acra as they were designing these daring dresses.
